style: 6 of best jumpsuits to take you into autumn

I mentioned recently I was going ‘capsule wardrobe’.

After one helluva clear out (there’s a charity shop in our town that is completely kitted out with my old stuff), 6 bin liners and a big sigh of relief later, I totally refined my wardrobe. I posted about it earlier this week, and how I found the initial process. But today, I wanted to share the second purchase I made for my newly streamlined wardrobe, and some top picks for autumn that’ll be perfect for the transition into cooler days. This is a new angle I wanted to try on Katherine-Louise, where I share not only my look but some other picks I’ve seen – a round up of trends and the best ones I’ve spotted (because I spend a fair amount of time online ‘browsing‘, I’ll admit).

One sunny afternoon last month, I decided jeans wouldn’t cut it, and neither would a dress. I craved a jumpsuit to throw on, and of course – all I have are more dressy options (here and here). My trusty older black one (here) had found it’s way to the charity shop after becoming a little tired, and I just didn’t seem to have anything suitable. And so, I went into the notes on my phone and added to the list titled ‘Clothes I Need‘ (what a list to have), and typed in casual jumpsuit. I’ve really warmed to the jumpsuit over the last 1-2 years, and even being tall, I find with the right eye, I can find a great range of options on the highstreet. Of course, Tall is best but that doesn’t mean to say the normal range is ruled out – you’ve just got to try them out. This particular one caught my eye on ASOS – I loved the structure of it. So many jumpsuits are fast fashion – thin cottons, made out of patterned trend-led materials. I wanted something more rigid – more classic, and simple. I hunted high and low and nothing caught my attention more than this one. Don’t get me wrong, it wouldn’t have sufficed on the hot summer’s day I referred to earlier, but for this time of year, it’s the perfect piece. I love the neckline and the tie up detailing at the back. The length is great, and I can’t wait to team with my block heeled boots when it gets even chillier. Even dressed up without a tee underneath, this is a total winner.

For me, the jumpsuit is absolutely effortless. It screams ‘thought through‘ when in essence, it’s as simple as throwing on your old favourite dress. It can be styled up on down in so many ways, and I love the versatility of so many of the styles out there. This one from ASOS is the perfect mix of unusual and classic – the washed black denim makes it timeless, but the unique neckline and cropped leg keeps it current. I can see myself getting alot of wear out of it!

I’ve rounded up some of my favourite jumpsuits on the market at the moment here – casual, effortless wonders that you can rock with a rollneck and boots or pumps and a leather jacket. I’m particularly drawn to the stripes of number 5, and at under £25, it’s a real bargain. And number 2 would be perfect for a autumnal wedding as well as dressed down for lunch with the girls. And the denim? Always a winner in my eyes! Keeping things real, the jumpsuit is the perfect item to rock when you can’t be doing with being a lady – who wants to worry about short dresses and the wind?

As you can tell, they’re my absolute go-to right now and even in a capsule wardrobe, are a must feature!
