Last summer, I posted about the white summer dress.
You can find that post here – it’s still my favourite set of photos on my blog, shot by my friend Mel of Media Marmalade, using my Dad’s classic car as a back drop, at golden hour, what’s not to love? Today I wanted to bring you my 2017 update – a new white sundress, and a little twist that I’ve added this year to elevate the look.
I picked this dress up from TKMaxx earlier in the summer whilst looking for a couple of bits for our short break. Not only am I drawn to white dresses (they’re just so classic and fresh, especially with a tan), I was also drawn to the price of it. This dress was just £9.99 without being discounted – even the woman on the till double checked it, and I couldn’t believe it either. I mostly use TKMaxx for activewear and home décor, but once in a while the womenswear section comes up trumps and this was one of those moments! The length is perfect on me and the detailed bottom makes the dress look much more expensive than the mere £10 I paid for it. I’m looking forward to wearing it back here in the UK with my leather jacket and black tie sandals.
If you follow me on Twitter or Instagram, you would’ve seen these slides already. Another absolute holiday bargain which are still in stock, these blue suede beauties are just £8. You heard me – and they’re outrageously comfy. I’ve been wearing them nonstop with jeans now I’m home and I love the pop of colour they bring to a boring outfit. Adding the blue to the white on holiday added some fun to my sunshine go-to outfit and I wore this one morning shopping at the market. As someone who usually lets her style go a touch on holiday, it was so easy to throw on one simple dress and a pair of comfortable shoes. Summer style needn’t be hardwork!
On that note, I’m about to start something new with my style. Although I’ve got one more holiday outfit to post on my blog, this week I am reading up and learning all about starting a capsule wardrobe. A term that’s banded around a lot in the blogosphere, and perhaps not always stuck to, I feel like it’s time I shook things up and started to condense my wardrobe into something more useable. I have a lot of clothes, and could really do with refining what I have. I feel a little bit in a style rut when it comes to everyday wear, living in jeans and stripes, and so I’m learning all I can about curating my closet before taking the plunge! I’ll be sure to keep you updated on my project but if you have any tips, recommendations, books or blog posts, do let me know below!
