Today’s post is taking a look at how I try to get more out of my wardrobe.
As someone who really agonises over her fashion purchases and keeps fairly tight tabs on her spending, I like to get my wear out of what I buy. ASOS saved items is a dream come true for me, where I beadily watch all my favourite items slip down into the sale and wait patiently for a discount code and the perfect time to strike. So when I buy something for a special occasion, I like to know I can style it up in other ways too. Enter, the pleated midi. I got this in the ASOS sale, in mid October for a day at Ascot. You’ll see here, on my Instagram, how I wore it on the day – heels and a black, long sleeve crop. Of course, a wine-fulled day at the races is no place to be snapping photos for Katherine-Louise so today I restyled the skirt for a blog-worthy shoot. Fast forward a month and things have turned slightly chillier!
In order to transition this look from a summer outfit, into an autumn-safe look, I needed more coverage. As an avid roll-neck wearer, I have more than enough in my wardrobe to choose from. I opted for simple black to ground the look and added some fierce black ankle boots to give it that seasonal edge. Skirts, boots and bare legs aren’t usually a look I opt for, but the midi, over the knee length of the skirt means I felt comfortable enough to keep my legs bare.

As I say, this look isn’t all that me. The skirt is a shape I’ve worn before but sometimes difficult to get just right. The cut needs to be hip skimming, rather than cutting in and jutting out. The colour really struck me with it’s beautiful purple and unusual print – a nod to summer trends but not your classic pastels. I adore the pleated look and have my eye on a metallic one soon!
