styling boho for a wedding

Let’s talk about weddings.

Or more specifically, wedding guest attire. This year I’ve got five weddings. Three down, two still to go. And that means some serious thought when it comes to outfits. If I’m totally honest, I feel like having so many has made me a little indifferent to my outfit situation. As someone who would usually go all out on a wedding if it were the only one of the year, I’ve become incresingly more laid back about what to wear. I’ve dabbled in a jumpsuit (which you’ll find here), a skirt and top combo (which you’ll find here) and my go-to fitted navy midi. But for the most recent on, I decided to branch out into something I’d always lusted after, but never committed to.

I spotted this dress in H&M in Copenhagen. One that usually shies away mainstream brands for wedding events (the thought of wearing the same as someone else and them looking better is just too much), I was too taken in by it to leave it. After rummaging the store for my size, I tried it on and it was confirmed, it was exactly what I’d been looking for. As my first best friend gets married next week, and her theme involves tipis on a farm, I knew I wanted something with a boho edge. Something midi or maxi, non fitted, with a beautiful pattern and a low cut neckline which I like on longer, more conservative dresses. This dress ticked every box – as well as side splits to show just that bit of flesh, a button up front and pockets. P o c k e t s. The dream! With a waist cinching tie, I was sold and although a little over my budget at £50 (yet a fraction of the price of some of the Revolve dresses I’d been lusting after), it had to be mine.

Dress – H&M | Bag –  New Look | Shoes – Primark (old)

When I came home and hunted for this dress online to show friends, I was amazed how different it looked on the website. Drab and oversized, I hated it! A real reason to always try things on. Teamed with nude accessories (this gorgeous bag that was just £8 in the sale), I’m really pleased I managed to find I think my wedding look is something a bit different, with a hint of boho, a lot of comfort and every ounce me!
