style: realistic workwear part 2

If you read my last style post, you’ll remember my aversion to so many of the workwear inspired blog posts out there.

I partnered with Laura Ashley to style up a couple of realistic workwear looks. A brand I perceive as elegant and on-trend, they were the perfect place to find some great combinations for work. Today I’m sharing my trouser based look – my favourite of the two. These trousers jumped out at me as soon as I saw them – they’re such an unusual colour yet so…neutral, making them entirely easy to wear. I teamed the trousers with a classic black tee and some pointed heels but I was spoilt for choice on how to wear them. A striped boyfriend shirt or some patterned flats – the neutral tone makes them so simple to pair together, but that hint of blue against the stone is so eye catching.

Workwear is such a difficult area to nail and picking some key pieces that have that unique edge makes life in the morning so much easier. I always want to look effortlessly put together, with minimal fuss at 6.30am. Simple, chic trousers are the only option!

  • Minus the heels, this exactly the kinda thing I wear to my new office job. I started off buying quite a few shirts and smart trousers, but I’ve found I felt too overdone in the shirts. My preferred daily workwear is trousers paired with a smarter plain tee and I kinda regret buying the shirts in hindsight.

My only trouble is the thought of winter. I’ve been lucky that my first steps into a work wardrobe have been during the summer when I can just whack on a pair of flat pumps with everything. The dilemma of what to do when the weather turns bad and I have to have more durable footwear is already playing on my mind! x

    • I totally get you! I guess ankle boots are my staple, mostly with a bit of a heel! Xx
