make up: 3 buys from MUA

mua haul

mua pro base eye primer

mua haul 2 mua brow define

A few weeks back, I made three impulse buys from MUA. Just a couple of new items to get my make up juices flowing, that wouldn’t break the bank. I’ve had chance to give all three a whirl and of course, it’s time to tell you what I thought.

First up, the Pro-Base Eye Primer. Usually, I swear by MUA’s Professional Eye Primer, so I figured this would be pretty much the same. I was right – a lightweight formula with no stickiness that leaves the lids in perfect condition for shadows. My shadows lasts all day with this primer and for £2.50, I can’t think of any reason not to stock up!

Next, I picked up the Hall Of Fame palette. MUA are well known for their bargain £4 palettes and I’ve got my fair share. This palette is a combination of 12 of their most popular shades – mostly shimmery brown toned nudes with a couple of greys and a shimmer black thrown in too. This is a great starter palette for anyone who is new to MUA, although I don’t really need it as I have so many anyway. I guess you could say it’s good for travelling with as you have a nice selection of shades. As always, reasonable pigmentation and blendability for such a cheap price!

And finally, my favourite item of the three – the Brow Define Tinted Brow Mascara. I swear by my Eyeko Brow Gel so I was keen to find a cheaper alternative and had high hopes after the Maybelline Brow Drama disappointed me so much. I got this in the dark brown shade and it’s pretty pigmented – I’ve even taken to using it alone on ‘no make up’ days as I find it really clings to the brows. It’s quite an unruly product in that a little goes a long way and the slightly too large brush makes it hard to control, but I like that it’s visible and it actually does something. It sets kind of hard which some people probably won’t like but the key is to wipe the excess product off on the top of the tube before application to avoid any crispiness. It keeps my brows well maintained and in place all day.
