If you saw yesterday’s video, you’ll know I went on a little lipstick splurge. The first thing that I was drawn to when browsing the shelves of Superdrug was this rectangle of happiness from Maybelline in the form of their Colour Elixirs. I’ve not tried anything from this family before but have heard great things since their launch earlier this year in the UK.
Me being me, I went for a nude – something wearable everyday which I guess is a touch boring, but cost effective some might say. I opted for Blush Essence, a warm rose nude. I wasn’t sure what to expect texture wise from these – I was half hoping for a gloss/lacquer hybrid. My instant reaction was that in fact, these are just lipglosses. A touch of colour, and a super glossy finish. Comfortable enough to wear daily (I’ve read somewhere they’re meant to have the comfort of a balm) but nothing…exceptional. That said, I think I need to try a more vibrant shade to get a real indication of what these are supposed to look like. There are 20 shades in the range so plenty to chose from…looks Iike I’ll just have to head back to Superdrug!
