make up: ELF HD blush

Online beauty brand ELF often hold 50% off events, so when making a bargain order a few weeks back, I stumbled across this product. This is the HD Blush in the shade Diva – a cream blusher. I was intrigued by it, particulary as you often only see cream blushes in flat pots, so I ordered a hot pink to try it out. They’re usually £4.50 but it’s worth waiting for a code to come up!

My first impression of this product was an uncertain one – a little goes a really long way. The swatch shown above is  maybe a half a grain of rice sized pump (which I found hard to control). The product is definitely more cream than liquid, and is actually quite hard to work with. Its very thick and doesn’t blend all too easily, so on the cheeks you need to work fast. I found I need to use my fingers to pat and then a brush to blend…after some trial and error!

The main pro of this product is it’s longevity. This blusher really stays put (even on your fingers), so if you’re someone who finds blusher is the first thing to go, it might be worth a try. It dries very matte, unlike most cream blushers I’ve used, so it isn’t for someone looking for a dewy look.

I found this product to be quite hard work, so it’s certainly not something I reach for regularly. It’s a fun, bright colour and if I were in need of a real pop for a long day, I might give this a whirl – but overall, it was a bit of a disappointment in terms of ease of use!
