I didn’t want to call this post ‘Kylie Jenner Lips’, because really, she’s just following a trend. And that trend is the 90s matte brown toned nude lipstick that is currently going about. I showed these two products in a recent video (here), but I wanted to talk about them on the blog today incase you aren’t a video watcher.
I’ve used Mac lip pencil in Spice since I started make up artistry, as my teacher introduced me to it’s ‘does-it-all’ nature. It blends with most lip colours and creates a sharp but subtle line to most lip shapes when blended correctly. It’s a great shade for over-drawing your lip line, and if it’s worn quite bold, it can give a good 90s look to the lips.
I went on a hunt for something else to pair it with and stumbled across a Revlon Colourburst Matte Balm in the shade Complex. At first, this looked like a frightening nude but once I got it home and teamed it with Spice, it gave the exact look I was hoping for. The texture of the Matte Balms in unusual, and although very matte – they’re quite slippery and comfortable to wear. Saying that, they wear off easily so it’s best to fill the lips in with Spice first to keep the colour.
Will you be trying this trend?
