beauty: current tanning routine

tanning routine

Last night, I got my tan on, big time. I’ve got a wedding on Saturday and potentially a strapless dress. My skin’s not seen the sun for near on 10 months, so it’s about time I gave it a wash and brush up and got my glow back. You might remember here I talked about getting a natural tan with Elemis, and these are my ‘every other day’ products. But last night, I went in for the kill and did the full shebang –  and today I’m positively radiant!

First up – in shower exfoliate. I never used to exfoliate before I tanned and what a fool I was. I like to do this the morning I’m going to tan, as the particular exfoliant I like leaves a slight moisturising residue on the skin which I like to wear off as the day goes on. This is Elemis’ Frangipani Monoi Salt Glow* (phew) and it’s a tub of bliss. It’s one of the most luxurious body scrubs I’ve used and I love everything about it from how well it gets me buffed, to the smell and lasting feeling I get on my skin.

Again, I like to moisturise the morning of tanning so that the lotions are worked into the skin and don’t interfere with the tan. My weapon of choice at the moment is the Dr. Organic Manuka Honey Skin Lotion* which is just right for an everyday moisturise. It’s rich enough to act on all the tough areas (which is a necessity pre-tan), but it’s light enough to sink in instantly before getting ready for the day. I also use this throughout my tan’s stay, and it keeps things even and subtle until the tan fades.

And finally, the tan itself. My current favourite you would’ve heard me mention here, but for anyone new, it’s the Cocoa Brown 1 Hour Tan which is available from Primark in the UK. This is a mousse formula and goes on like a dream. I’ll let you check out the full post for all the deets.
